Why we ask you to attend interviews in the office

Personal Connections:

We think that a face-to-face interaction, can often be the best approach. It builds an organic connection between the interviewer, and the interviewee. Body language and facial expressions play a huge role in the communication which can be difficult to convey over the phone. In-person interviews offer the chance for spontaneous conversation and informal interactions, which can provide valuable insights into the candidate’s personality and communication style.

Authenticity:

Conducting an interview or a registration, is often the best way to show the most authentic side of both us, as a company, and the candidates. It gives candidates the best chance to showcase their personality, professionalism and enthusiasm in a way that a phone conversation would lack. It also gives us the opportunity to better gauge the candidate and their fit within the organisations.

Feedback:

When we’re conducting interviews in person, it gives us, as the interviewers, an opportunity to provide immediate feedback or clarification. This, in our opinion, leads to a smoother conversation and better understanding of relevant topics.

Professionalism:

We think that conducting an interview in person demonstrates that you aren’t just a number to us! We value your time, as much as we do our own and we want to give everyone the opportunity of a full evaluation.

Network Opportunities:

In-person interviews provide networking opportunities beyond the role you have applied for! Even if we think you aren’t fully suited to that specific role, it gives us the opportunity to get to know you better so we are able to recommend you one of our positions that may be more suitable. This is often the best way to leave a positive impression so you can be considered for future roles with us.

Trust building:

Meeting a person face-to-face enables people to establish trust and rapport. This to us is essential; Especially when it comes to putting you forward for roles where networking, team work, collaboration and interpersonal skills are a high priority.

Body language:

It’s so hard to gauge a personas full interest and intentions over the phone, lets be honest. Having an in-person interview gives us that chance to gauge your interest and impressions of our roles. It gives you the best opportunity to show your confidence, engagement, and sincerity with posture, eye contact and gestures we may not be able to see over the phone.

Reduced challenges:

Interviews over the phone and video links of course come with their own sets of technical challenges! Whether it be poor internet connection, no phone service, being unable to understand paperwork etc, having in-person interviews eliminates these challenges! This ensures a smoother process for both us and the candidates.

In a nutshell, while we still love that we have the option of virtual interviews, we think that meeting in person and having that connection is invaluable and we aim to encourage it as much as possible! Why change what works?!
