We are currently undergoing recruitment for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join an engineering team in Rhayader. This is a hands-on, site-based role ideally suited to a motivated professional with a strong background in mechanical design within automotive or powertrain industries.

You will play a key role in the design and development of mechanical components and systems, with a focus on delivering high-quality, manufacturable solutions. In addition, you'll support the development of our junior design team through mentoring and technical guidance, helping to build a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence.

• £50,000 per annum
• Straight to permanent contract

Main roles and responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components, primarily within automotive/powertrain applications.
• Interpret and analyse manufacturing drawings, ensuring designs meet functional, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing and production teams to refine designs and address engineering challenges.
• Mentor and support junior designers, providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality procedures.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and requirements:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer, ideally within the automotive or powertrain sectors.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring or leading junior team members.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently on-site in Rhayader, Mid Wales.
