We’re currently undergoing recruitment for Sawmill Operatives for our new client in Bishops Castle.

• Monday – Thursday: 07:30 – 17:30
• Friday: 07:00 – 17:00
• £13.04 per hour

Main roles and responsibilities:

• Operate sawmill machinery, including saws, edgers, and trimmers, to cut and shape logs.
• Inspect raw logs for quality and size before processing.
• Measure, cut, and grade timber according to specifications.
• Stack and organise finished wood products for storage or dispatch.
• Perform routine maintenance on machinery and report any faults.
• Monitor product quality and adjust equipment settings as necessary.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Load and unload logs and timber using forklifts or other equipment, if certified.
• Assist with inventory control and log tracking.

Skills and requirements:

• Previous experience in a sawmill or manufacturing environment (preferred but not required).
• Ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery.
• Strong physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy materials.
• Basic math skills for measuring and cutting.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
• Forklift certification (advantageous but not mandatory).
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
