Yard / FLT Operative

Location: Welshpool Pay Rate: £13.39 per hour Working Hours: 7:30am – 5:00pm We are currently recruiting for a Yard / FLT Operative to join a busy operation in Welshpool. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, working outdoors and being part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will assist with the movement, handling and sorting of recyclable materials, as well as loading and unloading vehicles and moving stock around the yard. Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment will also be an important part of the role. This opportunity would suit someone with previous experience in a yard, warehouse, recycling or materials-handling environment. A valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence would be beneficial, although previous experience and a positive attitude are equally valuable.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Sorting, handling and moving recyclable materials.
• Operating a forklift to move stock and materials where appropriately trained and authorised.
• Assisting with the movement and organisation of materials around the yard.
• Keeping the yard clean, tidy and organised throughout the working day.
• Following site health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
• Taking care when handling materials and moving stock to help prevent damage and maintain a safe working environment.
• Working alongside colleagues to ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently.
• Following instructions from supervisors and supporting the smooth running of day-to-day yard operations.
• Reporting any hazards, damaged equipment or safety concerns to the appropriate person.

Experience and Qualifications

• Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, recycling or materials-handling role would be an advantage.
• A valid FLT licence would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Previous forklift experience would be useful.
• Candidates with relevant practical experience and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
