Vehicle Technician / Mechanic – Shrewsbury
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Vehicle Technician to join our busy and growing workshop. We specialise in French vehicle brands and are looking for a skilled technician who can work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality repairs, servicing, and diagnostics.
The successful candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge and proven experience carrying out major engine and transmission repairs, including cambelts, clutches, and head gaskets.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out vehicle servicing and maintenance to manufacturer standards.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Perform cambelt and timing belt replacements.
- Carry out clutch replacements and transmission repairs.
- Remove and replace cylinder head gaskets.
- Conduct engine repairs and rebuilds when required.
- Complete suspension, steering, and braking system repairs.
- Undertake exhaust system repairs and replacements.
- Diagnose and repair cooling system faults.
- Carry out vehicle health checks and inspections.
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and rectify issues.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Maintain accurate job records and service documentation.
- Follow all workshop health and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth workshop operations.
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and safe.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic.
- Strong experience with cambelt, clutch, and head gasket replacement.
- Experience working on French vehicle manufacturers such as Peugeot, Citroën, Renault, and DS is highly desirable.
- Ability to diagnose and repair complex vehicle faults.
- MOT Tester qualification preferred but not required.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
